At the 16th joint meeting of the China National Textile and Apparel Council and the China Textile and Light Industry and Tobacco Trade Union, Sun Ruizhe, president of the China National Textile and Apparel Industry Federation, stated that the realistic conditions for achieving high-quality development in the textile industry are already in place.

According to Sun Ruizhe, from 2011 onwards, the total fiber processing in China continues to account for more than half of the world total. In 2017, the enterprises above designated size realized main business income of 6893.565 billion yuan, an increase of 4.2% year-on-year; realized total profits of 376.881 billion yuan, an increase of 6.9% year-on-year; textile and apparel exports totaled 274.505 billion US dollars, an increase of 1.62% year-on-year. The huge industrial scale, complete industrial support, and continuously optimized supply structure form a solid foundation for high-quality development.

Sun Ruizhe said that the world economy is entering a new rising cycle and showing a warmer trend, which provides an important window period for the high-quality development of the textile industry. At the same time, the global trend of anti-globalization and protectionist tendencies in trade and investment have been strengthened and objectively forced the industry to accelerate its upgrading.

Sun Ruizhe said that China's textile industry currently has imbalances in the structure of supply and demand, unbalanced regional development, and unbalanced industrial returns; insufficient application of innovation, insufficient integration of production and financing, and inadequate environmental construction, etc., and it is necessary to achieve high-quality development of the industry. We will continue to deepen structural reforms on the supply side so as to optimize the allocation of factors and improve the quality and quantity of economic growth.
