Polypropylene filament is a synthetic fiber made from polypropylene through melt spinning. From the perspective of production process, the manufacturing of polypropylene filament involves three core steps: raw material pretreatment, melt spinning, and stretching and shaping. The dried slices are heated to 220-280℃ in an extruder to melt and form a uniform melt, which is then extruded through the micro-holes of a spinneret to become continuous filaments. After the filament is rapidly cured through the cooling air window, it enters the stretching process. By controlling the stretching ratio (usually 3 to 8 times) and temperature, the macromolecular chains inside the fiber are arranged in an orderly manner, enhancing the breaking strength and elasticity. Finally, according to the requirements, twisting, networking or winding treatment is carried out to produce polypropylene filament products with different line densities and forms. In production, the precise control of spinning temperature and stretching speed directly determines the uniformity and performance stability of the filament.

Its density is only 0.91g/cm³, making it the lightest category among common synthetic fibers. The finished products are lightweight and easy to carry and use. It has good tensile strength and wear resistance, and can meet the basic force requirements of daily textile or industrial scenarios. It has extremely low hygroscopicity (with a moisture regain rate of approximately 0.03%), is not prone to mold or deterioration in humid environments, and has good corrosion resistance to common media such as acids, alkalis, and salt solutions, making it suitable for a wide range of complex working conditions. In addition, polypropylene filament also has good processing fluidity, making it easy to blend with other fibers or weave it alone, and it is suitable for a variety of subsequent processing requirements.
In terms of application scenarios, polypropylene filament covers the demands of multiple fields. In the textile field, it can be used to weave fabrics for casual wear, knitted underwear, home textile decorative fabrics, etc., taking advantage of its lightweight and breathability to enhance the comfort of wearing or using. In the field of industrial textiles, it is suitable for making industrial filter cloth, geotextiles, safety ropes, etc. With its wear resistance and corrosion resistance, it is compatible with filtration, protection and other working conditions. With the development of fiber technology, polypropylene filament is also upgrading towards functionalization. Through raw material modification, its UV resistance, resistance to high and low temperatures and other properties can be enhanced.
